About

While I've always had a love for games, only in recent years have I become interested in programming. When West-MEC representatives came by my school and talked about their new Coding program, that's what got me hooked. I enrolled and found that I enjoyed programming and wanted to move my focus to programming games instead. Due to this, I decided to attend the University of Advancing Technology, where I am currently attending to major in video game programming.

Education

This is where my programming education comes from

West-MEC Coding Course - This two year course took me through the basics of web programming, with a dive into some of JavaScript's frameworks, like Angular and React.

University of Advancing Technology - I am currently attending this University to major in Game Programming, and have taken the basic programming classes for Python, C++, and Unity with C#.

Skills

C# Unity

In my classes, we've focused on programming in Unity. I have worked on many projects, team and solo, in this engine and language.

C++

I took C++ classes to get to know the language better to have that skill. I also learned about data structures in this language.

Python

Took a few intro classes to get a feel for Python.

Java

Took an intro class so I could learn about Java as well.

Objectives

Team Work

In this field of work, there's a lot of working as a team to complete the tasks at hand, which I have had experience with. In West-MEC, we did a few large group projects. In my Intro to Game Design class at UAT, we worked in a group to create a board game.

I have also worked in two projects for Production Studio on the games Siphoners and Kill the Rogue. I was also on the Junior Achievement team for my Internship, and was the lead programmer on it..

Problem Solving

Another important thing to always have in this field is the ability to solve issues. Sometimes it can be more challenging than others, but the ability to know when you need help or need to search around for an answer is very important.

“I believe that the human spirit is indomitable. If you endeavor to achieve, it will happen given enough resolve. It may not be immediate, and often your greater dreams are something you will not achieve within your own lifetime. The effort you put forth to anything transcends yourself, for there is no futility even in death.”
